Jack Richards, Founder
It speaks volumes that the loss of our founder and chairman, Jack Richards, in May 2014, was felt, not just by family and friends, but throughout the company, local community and transport industry at large. His memoirs, finished shortly before his death, tell the story of his gradual rise to become one of the UK’s best-known hauliers. How, from leaving school at 13, ‘doing his bit’ in the war-time RAF at 18, he worked tirelessly and with real vision to achieve the success he came to enjoy – yet always acknowledging the support of others.
We shall not see his like again. The transport industry and commercial sectors it serves have changed out of all recognition from the world Jack Richards first inhabited. It speaks volumes for him, however, and the team he had around him at the end of his life, that his business changed with the times and still highly regarded as a front-runner in technology, reliability, and service. Today, the Jack Richards fleet is working harder than ever, and still more than justifies his proud claim to be ‘One of the best!’.
